The Expedition Long Down Parka is an extra-long version of Fjallraven’s classic Expedition Down Jacket from 1974. It’s made from recycled polyamide and padded with a combination of traceable down and synthetic insulation (approx. 50% of each). The padding is distributed in two layers – one for down, one for synthetics – with an offset construction that gives maximum warmth without cold spots. This parka is just as comfortable for everyday use as for forest walks or ice fishing outings, where the roomy hood and generous length protect against cold winds.

DOWN INSULATION
Down is a natural insulator with a high warmth-to-weight ratio. It is produced from a layer of fine feathers found under the tougher exterior feathers of ducks or geese. Down offers excellent thermal properties, has good lofting characteristics and traps small pockets of air efficiently, which creates a thermal barrier. Down insulation is rated by fill power, measured as the number of cubic inches displaced by a given ounce of down (inĀ³/oz). Higher fill-power down will insulate better than lower fill-power down of the same weight.
